Excuse the poor quality of this picture but I do not have one more minute of patience for standing in front of the mirror, since it took 12 shots to get this far. And yes, I have a timer and a tripod, but it's all just too much trouble. I promised my friend Susan I'd post this so she could see the dress which I bought last night at my first sample sale. (Yes I have been avoiding them for many years.)
Tres Chic Designs hosted this sale of new designs by Michelle Weisman of 81 Poppies. I heard about it on Facebook, and since I've been tracking Houston fashion designers for the Creative Houston inventory, I did some research. Weisman grew up in Houston, went to Pratt, and eventually settled in Austin. She has worked to become a successful entrepreneur.
If you had told me ten years ago that I'd be supporting an up-and-coming designer, I wouldn't have believed you.
Thanks to Beth DeLozier-Hayes for sharing her studio and promoting this event. You should follow her blog to keep up with the best of the new fashion ideas. Thanks to April Guzik for sharing her plans to attend. And thanks to Michelle for never leaving behind her plans of becoming a fashion designer, even after she decided to leave New York.
