Living Small in Houston
Who says everything is bigger in Texas? Some of us are starting to realize bigger is not necessarily better. Swamplot: Small, Cool Apartment Contest Winner Explains How It All Began, 2010-May-12 Graphic designer Chris Nguyen’s tiny Marshall St. apartment (featured on Swamplot just last week) ended up as the grand U.S. prize winner in Apartment…

Today is a day to bee busy and push those projects ahead!

Musicians Sam Phillips and others forging a new relationship with their audience
I recommend this entire LA Times article about how musicians have given up on finding the "new business model," and, instead, are simply working with the audience to try new methods and connections. These efforts put the audience first, then determine what they value. I'm fascinated to find out how many businesses, media-focused or not, can…

I’m really proud of my modest Art Car Parade set, but Chris Denbow and Robert Kimberly…
Chris Denbow and posted hundreds of photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mojodenbowsphotostudio/sets/ and Robert Kimberly has a terrific set, too: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rkimberly/sets/72157623909137819/. One from my set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/qviews/sets/72157624024155574/

At Art Car Parade this year, I focused on people and details. Set uploaded to Flickr
We had cloudy weather at this year's Art Car Parade, which actually made photography easier. Instead of trying to photograph whole cars, I concentrated on collecting pictures and interesting details. I've put together a set designed to run as a slide show on Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/qviews/sets/72157624024155574/show/

I have to talk back to this NY Times article
Overall, the impression is accurate, but I know so much about the topic, I have to add my two cents to this article about Houston just published in the NY Times travel section. I'm going to post this without links to the places I mention, but I will add them later. NY Times: 36 Hours…

Last night I was a snap-shotting fool at the UHouston “unblock” event. We had fun.
This was a great party. Senior+ exhibit from the University of Houston Graphics Communications department. The food was great and it was easy to see some nifty art or just people watch. Even though it was crowded it was not uncomfortable. http://www.flickr.com/photos/qviews/sets/72157624014324052/

Today is a day for following up: Houston Area Respite Center doing better, still needs support
While this wonderful organization, Houston Area Respite Center, has attracted more support, higher awareness has also increased demand for its services. If you haven’t made a donation, please think again. Houston Chronicle:Public response awes Respite, 2010-May-6, by Jennifer Radcliffe The Houston Area Respite Center should be able to keep its doors open —and possibly expand…
